To Report A Highways Related Issue

TO REPORT A HIGHWAYS RELATED ISSUE
Customer Services Team, Essex County Council

We often find that emails do not contain sufficient information to allow us to identify the issue correctly. If this is the case you will receive an email asking you to report the problem via our online Highways Reporting Tool which will capture the required information. Please do not send us a further email.
Your report will be assessed to decide if the problem can be resolved and if it can, the best way of doing so.

We do not have enough money to fix everything that is reported to us so we prioritise what will be repaired and when. This is based on a variety of criteria including the location of the issue and any potential safety issues. To find out more about how we manage and prioritise repairs please visit our Highway web pages.

How should you report highways issues in future.

Please use our online reporting tool. This will capture the right information quickly and easily and also allows you to upload digital photos. Once you have told us about a problem via the website tool you will be provided with a unique reference number which you can use to review the status of your enquiry via the website. As well as being available 24/7 the online tool is a quick way for you to track the progress of an issue and a cheaper way for us to manage highway related enquiries. In the current financial climate it is really important to us to reduce administrative costs and ensure limited resources are used efficiently.
