New Braiswick Primary School

New Braiswick Primary School - 'Drop-in' session

Information added 11 December 2015

Residents may already be aware of the invitation from Braiswick Primary School to attend a 'drop-in' session on 4 January 2016 between 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm. The session was originally due to end at 6.00 pm but the school have agreed to extend it to 7.00 pm to give those perhaps commuting to work an opportunity to attend.

During the visit you will be able to view the new building, meet staff and ask any questions you might have about how the school will be run. The committee of the Residents' Association wish to encourage as many residents to attend as possible as it will give an opportunity to raise issues which may be a cause for concern either now or potentially in the future as school numbers grow towards the current design capacity.

The school have emphasised that the session is intended for local residents and is not designed for parents considering the school for their children. Parents of prospective pupils are invited to call the school on 01206 841951 to make an appointment for a visit specifically designed for their needs.

Dear Resident

Proposed School - new primary Academy at Braiswick, Colchester

Essex County Council (ECC), with the Department for Education (DfE), are planning a new primary age academy in the Braiswick area to meet growth in the number of school spaces required in North Colchester. ECC are leading on the building of a 420 pupil place building and external facilities on land off Apprentice Drive, Colchester. The DfE announced in December 2013 that the academy sponsor will be The Learning Pathways Trust.

The proposed building will comprise of 14 classrooms, a library, group rooms, a multi-purpose hall, kitchen, staff and admin accommodation. External facilities will include soft & hard play, a dedicated Foundation Stage play area, a grass playing field, staff car park and a parent drop off/collection area. The academy will cater for children aged between 4-11.

ECC would like to invite you to an exhibition to show you the proposed plans of the location, initial design concepts and footprint of the accommodation and external facilities. Don Parker and other colleagues from Essex County Council, the building contractor and the architect will be on hand to discuss the proposals. It is an opportunity to view the proposals, ask questions and offer your views before the planning application is made in a few weeks time.

The exhibition will be held at The Community Room, Paprika House, Apprentice Drive, New Braiswick Park, Colchester CO4 5SE on

Thursday 9 January 2014 from 2.00pm to 8.00pm

At the exhibition, you will be offered the opportunity to complete a survey expressing your views on the proposed Academy location, access and design. Following this consultation at the exhibition, all relevant comments and feedback will be reviewed and incorporated into the planning documentation.

I hope that you will able to visit the exhibition. If you have any questions in the meantime, or are unable to visit the exhibition and would like more information, please contact ku.vog.xesse|rekrap.nod#ku.vog.xesse|rekrap.nod
